Step by Step in Environmentally Friendly Cooling Demonstration Project

With a meeting organized on May 6, 2019 at And Plaza Workinton, SOSİAD (Refrigeration Industry Businessmen Association) started the activities of the "Environmentally Friendly Cooling in Combating Global Warming" project which is a UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) project that supports the fight against climate change. The project can be summarized as replacing the existing refrigerant with an environmentally friendly alternative in three commercial cooling systems to be determined, evaluating the results with the tests and measurements, and sharing them effectively with the end users and the sector.

According to the agreement with UNIDO, in line with the necessity of organizing awareness activities and seminars in three different provinces, provinces are organized according to the seminar date order; Izmir, Ankara and Istanbul. During the meetings held on 2019, May 10, 13, 20, 27 and 31, the Project Team decided to make a preliminary presentation to two UNIDO officials who will come to Istanbul prior to the completion of the First Progress Report and to get their opinion. With the next meeting, it was decided to start the promotion of the awareness project and to determine the strategic road map on this issue. The communication agency to be involved in the project was informed about the project. The event company was selected for the organizations. Markets and end-users were identified for demonstrations in three provinces.
During the five meetings held by the project team in June; UNIDO representative Natasha Kochova was presented with the current status of the articles in the contract. National awareness activities at city level, location, firm and material amounts for field applications were listed. The entire draft work of the Sosiad Demonstration Project was completed. Natasha Kochova informed that if the project was successful, the funds required to buy a new project could be allocated by the end of 2019. As the World Cooling Day was celebrated for the first time this year on June 26, it was decided to launch the project on this date. The project was presented to the press and sector representatives with a meeting and cocktail program held at Istanbul Point Hotel on June 26th.
